What is a pay monthly contract deal?

A pay monthly deal is usually a monthly contract of a specified length, in which you pay the network for the cost of the phone and a allowance of data, minutes and texts.

When choosing the length of the contract, you can generally choose between 6, 12 and 24 months. Most mobile phone contracts are generally 24 months, but if you choose to purchase a deal with a lower period length then you should expect to pay a higher total amount for the phone. For this reason, we give you the option to sort the contracts by total cost, as well as monthly cost.

Some of the pay monthly mobile phone contracts will come with no upfront cost. This can be a good option if you're looking to spread the total cost of the contract over a longer period of time, however as a result you will end up spending more as these mobile phone contracts usually have a higher total cost for the overall contract. If you choose to pay something upfront for the mobile phone contract however, you'll benefit from a lower monthly premium. At SavvyCompare we try to make it easy for you to compare both, by allowing you to sort by both the total cost and monthly cost of the deals.

A refurbished phone is a mobile phone that has been returned to the retailer or manufacturer. The phone could have been returned for several reasons, either due there was a fault with the phone, it was traded in by a customer as part of an upgrade, or it could have simply been returned as the customer changed their mind. Before being sold on, these refurbished phones are checked by the retailer, and if necessary repaired, to ensure that the refurbished mobile phones meets their standards. Although the devices aren't brand new, retailers generally have a high standard of refurbishment but the refurbished phone is unlikely to come with all the accessories that came with the original handset.

Some mobile phone deals come with a free gift as an incentive to purchase that particular contract. The free gifts themselves are usually some form of technology and are provided to you by the retailer. It can be a good way to get another piece of technology that you've always wanted, however the total contract price is unlikely to be as cheap as a contract without the free gift.
